Elizabeth Edwards, the wife of former presidential candidate John Edwards died today at her home in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The news was confirmed by the family who released a statement after her death and said that they had lost the comfort of Elizabeth’s presence but she would remain always there in the heart of the family. The family says that she was a loving mother and they would never know anyone more inspiring or full of life than her. The death came after she lost her long-time battle with breast cancer.

It’s been just a day when she posted a statement on her Facebook page and wrote that she had stopped treatment as doctors had told her that it would be unproductive, she also wrote that she wanted to stay with her family and children and wanted to live this last moments with them. She was 61. It’s been 6 years when she first diagnosed with breast cancer and she was fighting with the disease since then but couldn’t manage to win it. This past June doctors told her that the cancer had penetrated into her liver and now it was useless to continue the therapy. Elizabeth acted upon the advice and stopped it last June.

Elizabeth got a big shock when she first heard the news of her husband being involved with his campaign videographer Rielle Hunter. The news had a big flash but John continued refusing he was involved with anyone else. The truth is he was involved with that lady and also had a child too, John later confessed that he fathered a baby with Hunter and after that Elizabeth quit her relation with him.
