John Michael Stipe is mainly known among the people for his rock band REM which he was lead vocalist of. The band was started in 1980 after he joined hands with Mike Mill, Peter Buck and Bill Beryy. The band released as many as 23 albums, which is nothing less than a big honor for these guys as it is not so much easy to release so many albums. Besides singing for the band, he has also made his two production companies as well which he calls C-00 and Single Cell Pictures.
There have been located a couple of tattoos on his body which shows that he owns interest in this art. Looking at the left hand of the singer, we can see a small brick which is made with blue ink. The second tattoo for the singer is a cartoon character which he made in 1995. The cartoon tattoo is inked on his right arm. Talking about the cartoon tattoo, he said that there were two cartoon characters in this tattoo first Karzy Kat and second one was Ignatz Mouse. These characters were made by famous cartoonist and tattoo artist George Harriman.
Stipe was born in 1960 in Georgia and is known as a visual artist and lyricist besides the singer. He remained attached with his band REM for 21 years till it was dissolved in 2011. Among his fans, he is known for his mumbling singing style and for his political activism. For his band, he also directed a number of videos. He was born to a military man as the father was attached with United States Army. It was the result of this service that he spent his childhood at various locations.
