Musician Uncle Kraker was born in 1974 as Matthew Shafer which is his real and official name, but he is known as Uncle Kraker. The word KRACKER has made a sort of trademark for him, and this is the reason that he has made a tattoo of this name on his right forearm. Just above this first tattoo, he is showing a tribal armband. The armband is wrapped around his right bicep. When we see on his left forearm, we find that he has made another tribal design there as well. This one seems smaller than the previous one.

He started taking interest in music in 80s, after he met a musician at a night club. The name of the musician was Kid Rock, who influenced his mind for the music. After this first meeting, he started learning music from the musician who then became his best friend. In the year 1994, Rock asked him to play turntables in his band which he called Twisted Brown Trucker. He accepted the offer though, but he knew nothing about this instrument. For playing the instrument, he took some help from his brother who was an experienced DJ. After the first performance, he became a regular member of the band.

During the late 90s, he married his longtime girlfriend, Melanie. The couple is living in their home today along with their three daughters. The couple says that the three daughters are their life. He now sings as a solo singer.
